There is a need to create an online presence (profile, get to know one another, etc.)

It seems to be a course that requires basic skills to be able to cope with it.

1. active participation is encouraged to get the most out of what is on offer
2. the road to learning is carefully mapped (obviously by people who have developed this course and have called upon others' experiences) and that makes for a safe learning environment
3. ownership of the learning is encouraged as well as taking control of the overall process
4. as an introduction to a course it effectively covers all the areas that people "typicall" want to know about before leaping into a new online environment
5. the user is introduced to a wide range of resources that will be used by the course and in turn by the users in this initial phase of the learning process (wiki, forum, forms, etc)

The course provides practical tools and abilities. But I think that the main purpose is to achieve the integration. It means use these tools in a way that benefit educational process
